Derek Childs

Project Designer

“Architecture is an all-encompassing industry. It surrounds us, shapes the way we live, think, feel, interact, perceive, and more.”

By the age of 12, Derek was already an aspiring architect. Today, he is passionate about his profession, expressing that “the choice of design is powerful and holds responsibility. Buildings control the mood and experience, whether the inhabitants are aware or not, and the mood and experience are manipulated with each selected design element.”

As a Project Designer, Derek often drafts conceptual plans and elevations, then adjusts the plans to meet specific requests from clients. When he is not doing concept work, Derek assists the Project Leads with various project-related tasks they may need help with. Derek is actively pursuing his Architectural License.

Outside of the office, Derek enjoys working out, playing volleyball, producing music, watching sports, and playing video games. He also loves to golf but says his scorecards would indicate otherwise.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute
