A variety of National locations require specific design challenges. For example, this store located in Southern Florida and in a designated High-Velocity Hurricane Zone had issues with the refrigeration unit that was to be placed on the rooftop. Regulations in overall height, galvanizing requirements, and required equipment screens that could act as a sail in a hurricane made APD Architects conclude that an alternative design solution might be best.
The final solution included using rooftop curbs. This solution was then incorporated into future designs in Southern Florida as it was determined to exponentially save time and money.
